What we're looking for

Simple criteria, and we mean them.

If your business fits most of what's below, we'd like to talk, even if it isn't a perfect match. If it clearly doesn't, we'll tell you quickly and won't waste your time.

Size

$300K to $2M in annual EBITDA or SDE. Roughly $1M to $12M in revenue.

Where

Connecticut, the Colorado Front Range (Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs), and Southern California, San Diego County first.

Age

Established and consistently profitable. We're not looking for startups or turnarounds.

Ownership

One owner or a small group, ready to sell and thinking about what comes next.

Situations

Situations we're a good fit for

  • You're ready to retire and there's no obvious successor.

  • You want to step back from the day-to-day but stay involved in some way.

  • You've been approached by private equity and would rather sell to owners who will actually be there.

The business

What a great business looks like to us

Customers who keep coming back.

Recurring contracts, scheduled service routes, or project work for the same customers year after year.

A broad customer base.

No single customer making up more than about 10 to 15 percent of revenue.

Healthy, steady margins.

A track record of consistent cash flow, not one great year.

A team that runs the day-to-day.

Supervisors, project managers, crew leads, technicians, and office staff who know the work, so the business doesn't rest entirely on the owner.

Room to grow.

Organic growth, like new customers, new or adjacent services, and new areas, plus growth through add-on acquisitions.

Something that keeps competitors out.

Licenses and certifications that take time to earn, long-term contracts, or a reputation built over decades.

To save everyone time

What we're not looking for

  • Startups, turnarounds, or businesses in decline.

  • Businesses where the customers are really buying the owner's personal expertise. We're owners and managers, not licensed engineers or master technicians, and we won't pretend otherwise. Where a business runs on a licensed qualifier or key certified technicians, keeping them on is part of our plan from day one.

  • Businesses we can't be close to. We focus on Connecticut, Colorado, and Southern California because we want to be close enough to show up in person.
